Going Gray

May 23rd, 2009

Yup, it finally happened.  I found gray hairs in my unshaven beard this morning.  I’ve been praying for wisdom for raising the kids… I guess this is God’s sense of humor.

Owning a House… Finally

May 6th, 2009

We finally closed on our house on April 6th.  Of course, the builder wasn’t finished, so we gave him 30 days to wrap up some major projects before he got all of the final cash.  Amazingly, he did just enough to get the final bit of money today.

On a bright note, dad and I built a swing set for the kids last week.  We got it up just in time for Micah’s 7th birthday and it has now rained every day since we got it up.  Elizabeth stands at the back door and keeps saying, “ride”.  She will be one happy baby once the rain lets up.

Moving Closer to Closing

March 25th, 2009

For those of you following the saga of our home building process, we received word today that everything has cleared the bank for closing, except for setting the interest rate.  That should be wrapped up soon.  Then we can sign the papers and be done with this last major step in the process!  Now, if the builder can finish the punch list, we can really be done with the whole thing.

Snow Day

March 2nd, 2009

Well, it finally happened.  Richmond got snow, about 7″ worth at our house.  That meant no school for Micah and no work for Matt.  Elizabeth had a blast being dragged around in a sleigh.  Micah and Jonah learned the finer points of making snow balls why one should avoid yellow snow.  Matt learned that he cannot ride a sled like he used to and Doverly had fun showing the kids how to make snow angels.

Ice Cream

February 28th, 2009

You can keep your Edy’s and Ben and Jerry’s.  Our family has discovered real ice cream.  We have a Heith’s Ice Cream Factory just minutes from our house.  Our favorite flavor for now is Marshmellow Oreo.  Doverly liked it so much, she had a cake made out of that (and Birthday Cake flavored ice cream) for Valentine’s Day.  Now that was a cake.

Glasses, Haircuts, & Selling a House

January 31st, 2009

My updates have been kind of sparse over the last month due to the move.  So here is a quick update of the highlights…

  • Jonah is now sporting a pair of glasses.  He is doing really well with them and they seem to be helping him.  Turns out that one of his eyes is in really poor shape and his brain is starting to shut it down.  With the glasses and some training, we should be able to reverse the condition.
  • Elizabeth turned one this month, which means we could finally cut her hair.  Her hair had gotten so long, that it was past her elbows.  Now she has a super-cute “bob”.
  • The sale of our old house was completed on Thursday afternoon.  All the work was done and the papers were signed.  I will only have one yard to maintain this spring!!!

Also, new pictures have been uploaded.  Check them out.  Now, it is back to unpacking…

Moved In

January 20th, 2009

During the coldest day in the year in many, many years, our family moved into our new house!  Other than loosing feeling in our faces and legs, the move went well.  Now to the boxes…

In Negotiations

December 14th, 2008

So we got an offer, but it was too low.  We have countered with what we believe is a very fair offer and are now waiting for their response…
