Going Gray
May 23rd, 2009Yup, it finally happened. I found gray hairs in my unshaven beard this morning. I’ve been praying for wisdom for raising the kids… I guess this is God’s sense of humor.

We finally closed on our house on April 6th. Of course, the builder wasn’t finished, so we gave him 30 days to wrap up some major projects before he got all of the final cash. Amazingly, he did just enough to get the final bit of money today.
On a bright note, dad and I built a swing set for the kids last week. We got it up just in time for Micah’s 7th birthday and it has now rained every day since we got it up. Elizabeth stands at the back door and keeps saying, “ride”. She will be one happy baby once the rain lets up.
For those of you following the saga of our home building process, we received word today that everything has cleared the bank for closing, except for setting the interest rate. That should be wrapped up soon. Then we can sign the papers and be done with this last major step in the process! Now, if the builder can finish the punch list, we can really be done with the whole thing.
Well, it finally happened. Richmond got snow, about 7″ worth at our house. That meant no school for Micah and no work for Matt. Elizabeth had a blast being dragged around in a sleigh. Micah and Jonah learned the finer points of making snow balls why one should avoid yellow snow. Matt learned that he cannot ride a sled like he used to and Doverly had fun showing the kids how to make snow angels.
You can keep your Edy’s and Ben and Jerry’s. Our family has discovered real ice cream. We have a Heith’s Ice Cream Factory just minutes from our house. Our favorite flavor for now is Marshmellow Oreo. Doverly liked it so much, she had a cake made out of that (and Birthday Cake flavored ice cream) for Valentine’s Day. Now that was a cake.
My updates have been kind of sparse over the last month due to the move. So here is a quick update of the highlights…
Also, new pictures have been uploaded. Check them out. Now, it is back to unpacking…
During the coldest day in the year in many, many years, our family moved into our new house! Other than loosing feeling in our faces and legs, the move went well. Now to the boxes…
The house is sold. Closing is January 29th! Praise God.
So we got an offer, but it was too low. We have countered with what we believe is a very fair offer and are now waiting for their response…
